Harlingen - Historic sailing business |
The historic sailing business, for example to the islands of Vlieland and Terschelling, is flourishing in Harlingen. Shipowners such as Traditional Sailing Charter (TSC) mainly offer group trips for tourists and business trips. A weekend trip for a group of friends to Vlieland or Terschelling, with all the trimmings, costs around 100 euro per person on the basis of accommodation in two to four person cabins. Sailing trips across the Wadden Sea can also be arranged for individuals. Click on photo to enlarge |

Hand-painted tiles and pottery have been famous for four centuries and are still available, decorated in both traditional and modern styles. The production process is as of old: handmade, baked, covered with a white coating of tin glaze, hand painted and then baked once again. The Harlinger Aardewerk- en Tegelfabriek is run by the Oswald family.

Harlingen - Hannemahuis museum |
The town's rich history appears to be a major source of inspiration for art and culture. This is revealed by, for example, the Hannemahuis museum, a magnificent mansion that was lived in by the Hannema family for more than 200 years. These days, visitors can admire the wide range of silver and porcelain on display in the various period rooms. Click on photo to enlarge |
